₱13.2B shabu, marijuana seized in biggest two-week drug haul — DILGPosted by On

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 28) – Authorities have seized a total of ₱13.2 billion worth of illegal drugs in separate drug busts within a two-week span, making it the government’s biggest drug haul for such length of time, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) reported on Monday.

DILG said the confiscated drugs included 1,775.2 kilos of shabu and 421.5 kilos of marijuana.

According to Interior Secretary Eduardo Año, a drug operation conducted on March 8 in Barangay Karuhatan in Valenzuela yielded ₱1.08-billion worth of shabu. He said a Chinese national and a Filipina were among those arrested.

A week later, on March 16, a way bigger drug bust in Infanta, Quezon hauled ₱12-billion worth of shabu, with ten suspects apprehended.

Año said the two operations were part of the 1,794 drug raids conducted from March 6 to 19. During this period, he noted 2,471 suspects were arrested, 61 surrendered, and two died.

“Isang napakalaking tagumpay sa ating kampanya laban sa iligal na droga ang pagkakasabat ng tone-toneladang shabu at marijuana,” he said.
