Operatives of the Eastern Police District (EPD) seized P9.12 million worth of marijuana from three regional high-value individuals (HVIs) in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Kapasigan, Pasig City early Thursday morning, Dec. 1.

The report submitted to Col. Wilson C. Asueta, acting district director of the EPD, identified the suspects as Bjoryaniel Cruz, 21; Kent Louie Cruz, 38; and Lexi Cruz, 40.

The operatives coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in conducting surveillance on activities of the suspects, which led to their arrest.

The police nabbed the suspects at Blumentritt Street, Barangay Kapasigan, Pasig City.

The authorities confiscated six pieces of sealed transparent plastic containing suspected kush, weighing around 6 kilograms with a market value of P8,400,000; and another six pieces of plastic containing suspected marijuana, also weighing 6 kilograms worth P720,000.

The suspects were brought to the District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) for documentation, and transferred to the EPD’s Forensic Unit for a drug test.

They are currently detained at the Pasig City Custodial Facility.

The evidence was turned over to the EPD’s laboratory for examination.

The suspects are facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) No. 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Col. Asueta said “the EPD will continue to intensify their campaign against illegal drugs.”
