TOP leader Geoff Simmons launched the party’s cannabis policy outside Cosmic cafe on Cuba Street
Many of us who have walked down Cuba St on a sunny day have been able to smell cannabis in the air, so why not bring it out into the open with an Amsterdam-style cannabis coffee shop?
That’s the pitch from The Opportunities Party leader Geoff Simmons, who launched the party’s drug policy at a pop-up cannabis cafe on Thursday, next to Wellington’s famous bucket fountain.
“It is a part of the Cuba St culture, and we would like to see people enjoying cannabis in a responsible way,” he said.
“Just like smoking in bars, you could have regulated areas where people are closed off from the public but still able to enjoy.”
