BELMONT — While lawmakers return to Albany to begin the final two months of the legislative session, one local organization is taking a stand against the legalization of recreational marijuana.

On Wednesday, Allegany County Traffic Safety Board Chairman Linda Edwards told the Public Safety Committee that the group has voted unanimously to weigh in against legalization.

“We discussed this as a Traffic Safety Board,” Edwards said. “I know there have been voices opposing legal marijuana, a number of agencies and traffic safety boards.
