A man who was arrested yesterday was found with sweets in his belongings – they were found to contain traces of cannabis.
In a Facebook post, GMP officers in Failworth and Hollinwood said they conducted a search of the man who was arrested for an unrelated manner, and following closer inspection, they discovered the sweet treats contained THC.
THC or Tetrahydrocannabinol, is a psychoactive chemical found in cannabis.
Following recent concerns of children eating the sweets and in some cases ending up receiving treatment in hospital, GMP are urging for people to be vigilant.
They said that whilst there was no evidence that could prove the cannabis sweets, including ‘Medicated Nerds’ and ‘Stoner Patch Dummies’ were being sold, they ‘could’ be in circulation in the Failsworth and Hollinwood area.
It was also suggested that the drug was modified by a third party, rather than being added at the manufacturing stage.
