BELVIDERE — Two Belvidere men were arrested after police stopped the vehicle they were in for a traffic violation on Saturday and found more than 5,000 grams of cannabis and cannabis concentrate, authorities said.
A vehicle driven by Nikolas J. Manchen, 22, was stopped on U.S. Route 20 by a Boone County Sheriff’s deputy. The cannabis was discovered after a search of the vehicle. Manchen and his passenger, Reid N. Carlson, 29, were charged with unlawful possession with intent to deliver the drug. They were taken to Boone County Jail. The two men each face between six and 30 years in prison if convicted.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible, police said.
