But Stordeur said part of the way forward will be paved with cannabis-infused chocolate crafted by veteran confectioner Choklat, which has a track record of supplying conventional sweets to local supermarkets.
“It really fits well with what we want to do,” he said. “It’s a very low-capital way of doing it, compared to building a new edibles production facility.”
Under the two-year pact, Sundial, he said, will assist with sales and distribution of the edibles infused with extracts made from the grower’s 10 different strains of cannabis produced in some of its nearly 500,000 square feet of space.
Not all of that space is being used — a reflection of overproduction in an industry where high quality product isn’t always guaranteed, said Stordeur.
“There’s a lot of over-inventory and not always the best quality (throughout the industry),” he said.
