Police seized £500,000 of drugs after discovering a huge cannabis factory in Nechells when they were called to a robbery.
Officers swooped on Premier Street following reports a man in his 50s had been violently assaulted and his luxury Bentley car stolen.
While they were investigating the attack they discovered a sophisticated cannabis factory set up in a unit on the road.
They seized over 1,000 plans which were being cultivated in the huge operation.
West Midlands Police released a statement which said: “We’ve shut down a cannabis factory with more than half-a-million pounds worth of drugs in Nechells.
“We discovered the sophisticated set up in a factory unit off Premier Street at around 7.30pm yesterday (8 October).
“Our officers uncovered the drugs den with over 1,000 plants while carrying out enquiries into a robbery in Premier Street last night.
“A man in his 50s was assaulted as his car and cash were taken, although the Bentley has since been recovered.
