A routine police stop near Lumsden led to a kilo of cannabis being seized and the alleged buyer and dealer being arrested.
On Friday, a 29-year-old Te Anau man was stopped near Lumsden on State Highway 94, when police smelt cannabis and searched his car.
Police found a kilogram of cannabis in two chilly bins and more than $500 cash.
The man was alone in the car and admitted to police he had just bought the cannabis in Gore, a police statement says.

Police searched the man’s house in Te Anau and found more cannabis, more than $2000 cash and drug dealing equipment.
Sergeant Tod Hollebon, of Te Anau, said police had taken a substantial amount of cannabis off the street and uncovered a significant growing operation.
Further investigations found a 45-year-old man from Gore was believed to be responsible for the sale of the drugs, Hollebon said.
Police searched a Gore property and seized about 3kg of cannabis, several plants and $10,000 cash.
