New York Governor Andrew Cuomo yesterday signed a measure further decriminalizing marijuana possession and allowing for the expungement of some marijuana convictions.

New Yorker and CEO of the first publicly-traded cannabis company in the U.S., Medical Marijuana, Inc. Dr. Stuart Titus, says that “New York has a history of leading the way in many legislative policies for the U.S. and we hope that this new decriminalization measure in New York will set an example for other states, and the federal government to follow.”

Dr. Titus, who has been a leader in the cannabis industry for over a decade and helped legalize the importation of cannabis in both Mexico and Brazil, also points out that cannabis has a rich history in the U.S. saying that these efforts have been long-awaited, “Cannabis has a long history of use in the U.S. and it’s nice to see that its stigma is diminishing here…
