Cops allegedly hold suspect with marijuana in police exercisePosted by On

Police said a man who shares the same name as a popular footballer was allegedly held with marijuana on Sunday.

Police said the man, allegedly named ‘Dwight Yorke’, was expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate on Tuesday.

The suspect was held during a police operation that took place between 10pm on Saturday and 2am Sunday and was spearheaded by ACP Mystar and Snr Supt Ramphall, coordinated by Supt Powder, W/ASP Powder, Insp Highley, and Sgt Pamphille and supervised by PC Raghoobar and included members of NCTF Area East.

During this exercise, officers had cause to execute a search warrant along Seventh Street in Bon Air Gardens.

There they found over 60 grammes of marijuana, which is twice the legal limit for individuals in this country.

Officers also received information and proceeded to Fourth Avenue in Bon Air Circular, where they found and seized a Glock 19 pistol loaded with 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Police said no one was held in connection with that find.

More on this as it becomes available.
