A son’s cocaine addiction resulted in his dad turning his curry spice business into a cannabis farm.
Mark Rockwood, 61, was pressured to use his business premises as a cannabis farm containing 40 plants after his son was threatened.
Liverpool Crown Court today heard how Rockwood and his wife were “living a nightmare” for months due to their son’s drug debts.
The court heard how Rockwood, of Beech Avenue, Aigburth, became “caught up” in the operation after answering a phone call and agreeing to the terms.
Simon Leong, prosecuting, explained that on August 7 last year police stopped Rockwood’s van as there was no MOT.
Due to a “distinct smell of cannabis” they searched the vehicle – discovering around £8,950 worth of cannabis in a large vacuum bag.
Officers also found notebooks containing mathematical equations and a mobile phone.
Rockwood was arrested and they then searched his address where between £13,000 and £14,000 was found along with another large vaccum bag containing…
