A MARIJUANA smell which wafted out of a family home led police to discover a “semi-sophisticated” drug set-up a father-of-two used to make product to ease his “sleepwalking”.
Police were called to Shane Allan Moore’s home last year after neighbours reported “yelling”, but officers were suspicious after noticing a smell and called in back-up.
Defence barrister Jeffrey Conroy said Moore had “panicked” and run inside after four additional police cars arrived at his home, where officers followed and found a drug set-up and plants.
Crown prosecutor Joana Dias told Maroochydore District Court today police found eight marijuana plants weighing a total of 626g, and 287g of loose marijuana in jars.
Ms Dias said police also found a growth tent, lights and irrigation, where Moore admitted he had been growing the drug for about six months.
