Wayne Alvin Archer, 62, of Detroit Lakes was charged in Becker County District Court with felony fifth-degree controlled substance crime.
According to court records, on Aug. 27 Archer was in a minivan stopped by Detroit Lakes police in the Central Market parking lot for not having a front license plate.
The van was very slow to stop, according to court records. When it did stop the officer saw a woman hurry out of the van to hide something under the front passenger-side bumper.
She was arrested on a warrant, and volunteered that Archer had Percocet on him. He was on probation and required to submit to a search and, according to the criminal complaint, officers found four Oxycodone Hydrochloride pills in a small plastic package in his right pocket, and 7.4 grams of marijuana in a plastic bag in his left pants pocket.
On Aug. 28 Archer appeared before District Judge Gretchen Thilmony, who set cash bail at $500 or bond at $3,000, with standard conditions of release, or bond at $6,000 with no conditions of release.
