TABUK CITY, Kalinga: The driver of an intercepted vehicle loaded with more than P29 million in marijuana leaves was able to escape the dragnet of combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents after a brief chase in Lacnog here Thursday. The government troops responded to a call for assistance from the personnel of the 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company that a certain Toyota Innova with license plate number DCP-6053 evaded the police checkpoint in Dikacan, Lubuagan town. The team then conducted a hot pursuit operation against the fleeing motor vehicle suspected to be loaded with marijuana until they reached New Balbalan, Lacnog where the driver allegedly ran away from the road leaving his vehicle behind. During an inspection of the abandoned vehicle, authorities discovered several sacks containing no less than 242,000 grams of marijuana. The operating troops conducted an onsite inspection of the recovered contraband before witnesses. Meanwhile, a manhunt operation for the driver who fled in a still unknown direction continues.
