EDMORE — As a local marijuana business is in the process of being sold, the Edmore Village Council on Monday voted to implement a transfer fee of $500 for recreational and medical marijuana licenses.

Prompted by the pending sale of provisioning center Pinnacle Emporium, Resolution 2022-8 passed 7-0.

“We just need to decide what we want to charge for a transfer fee because the one downtown that is called Pinnacle, they’re selling the business,” Village President Gloria Burr explained. “So the license has got to be transferred into their name.”

Pinnacle Emporium, also known as KISA Enterprises, opened at 413 E. Main St. in downtown Edmore in May 2021, with Phenix BT leasing the building to the marijuana business. The marijuana business is one of six marijuana businesses either open or in the process of opening in Edmore, with a seventh marijuana business proposal pending.

Village Manager Justin Lakamper wasn’t in attendance at Tuesday’s Village Council meeting, due to a family vacation.
