Inglewood’s Rotary House erupted in cheers and applause when three of the five Taranaki-King Country electoral candidates revealed they would be voting no in the upcoming cannabis referendum.
The crowd of around 30 had gathered to hear what Barbara Kuriger (National), Lee Smith (New Conservative), Brent Miles (ACT), and Angela Roberts (Labour) stood for.
Christopher Grey of the NZ Outdoors Party was absent.
Farming, oil and gas, and freedom of speech were hot topics of the Tuesday night debate, chaired by Warren Poehler, Inglewood Rotary Club president, with the cannabis referendum provoking much discussion.

Kuriger, Smith, and Miles all said they would be voting against legalising the drug.
