An EncroChat cocaine dealer arranged for ‘live in harvesters’ to work at cannabis farms.
Liam Garvey’s involvement in staffing cannabis growing sites was revealed after police hacked the EncroChat encrypted phone network.
The platform, used by criminals to cover up their illegal trades, had the ability to enter ‘panic’ mode, which would wipe the phone’s data if discovered by police.

After the secret messaging service was cracked by cops, Garvey was revealed as the cocaine-dealing crook behind two usernames, ‘Butterflyjuice’ and ‘Chopper-Reid’.
The 28-year-old appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday where he was jailed for nine years and nine months by the judge, Recorder Tom Payne.
Garvey, of The Boulevard, Thatto Heath, admitted conspiracy to supply 3kg of cocaine, conspiracy to supply 2kg of Ketamine, conspiracy to supply and produce 177kg of cannabis.
Anya Horwood, prosecuting, said the Crown accepted the deal for 3kg of cocaine did not appear to have been completed.
She said he was arrested at his home on May 13 this year after the handles were attributed to him by police.
Officers were able to link Garvey to Chopper-Reid account as it referenced a criminal case he faced, and there were discussions about his family members and current and previous addresses.
Ms Horwood said he then switched to the username Butterflyjuice where he confirmed his birthday and named his girlfriend.
