Fort Smith medical marijuana dispensary set for Friday inspection

Fort Cannabis Co. could open next week if it passes state inspections on Friday, according to General Manger Jordan Mooney.”We want to make sure that we get that absolutely correct,” Mooney said, “We don’t want to just be in compliance, we want to make sure that we are doing everything one-hundred percent right.”Currently, Fort Cannabis Co. is the only medical marijuana dispensary licensed to open in Fort Smith. According to the Arkansas Department of Healtn, there are more than 30,000 medical marijuana card holders in the state. The number of card holders is expected to increase as more dispensaries open. Fort Smith card holders have had few options for getting medical marijuana, other than driving to Northwest Arkansas or paying for a temporary license in Oklahoma.”I know the patients in the area are looking forward to it (opening),” Mooney said. “I know they do not want to take that drive that they’re having to make right now.”
