A frail cannabis oil user who told a court he uses it to ease his pain has been prosecuted.
David Burns suffers from both a muscle wasting disease and a curved spine.
He was taken to court after police raided his Gateshead home – and found cannabis oil in his fridge.
His solicitor claimed the oil was for “medical reasons”.
But the 30-year-old has been fined after admitting to possessing a Class B drug.
South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court how when police executed a warrant for his Kelso Place home last July 30 he told them where the oil was.
The substance was said to be “more intense” than normal oil. Tuesday’s sentencing heard it was more like “skunk”.
The conviction was Burns’ fourth relating to cannabis.
