The Gombe State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Friday paraded a 65-year-old suspect, Anayo Ojegbe, arrested with 150 blocks of cannabis sativa, weighing 119 kilogrammes.
Gombe NDLEA, Acting Commander, Mrs. Rosanna Nnodim, disclosed that the suspect was intercepted by the NDLEA after trailing him for two weeks based on information.
Nnodim said his arrest was the outcome of painstaking efforts of the agency who had been on his trail for a long time till he was arrested in Gombe.
“He was arrested based on information and we have been on his trail for the past two weeks and we eventually arrested him at a suburb in Gombe. As you can see he is 65 years old. He was arrested with 150 blocks of cannabis sativa with estimated weight at 119 kg,” the acting commander said.
She added that from January to December 2020, the command has secured 32 convictions, with 13 pending cases.
Nnodim said, “407.711 kg of drugs, out of this 99.516kg of psychotropic substances the controlled drugs which includes; Tramadal, Exzol. For cannabis sativa we have 38.195 kg, as well as arrest of 146 persons. For December alone, we have 121.108kg of cannabis sativa and for psychotropic substances we have 292gms, totalling 121.400gms of drugs. We have care and treatment services, families should bring victims of drug or substance abuse to access recovery.”
