Grumpy Baker opens in Abercrombie Lane in Sydney’s CBDPosted by On

When laneway sandwich pioneer Marcella Nelson-Aebi sold Calabria Panineria in August, regulars wondered who the mysterious new occupant of the pint-sized Abercrombie Lane venue would be.

Michael Cthurmer’s rapidly expanding Grumpy Baker has taken up residence in the site where Via Abercrombie once pioneered laneway food venues before passing the baton to Calabria Panineria.

The 10th Grumpy Baker outlet has a dish exclusive to the new venue: baked Moroccan fish cooked in a sauce of capsicum, garlic, tomato and spices. It’s served in fresh pita.

There’s also a Grumpy falafel and Grumpy schnitzel, with roasted eggplant, Romanian spicy salad and lettuce in a house-baked challah roll. The store also stocks Grumpy Baker’s standard line-up of baked products.

Open Mon-Fri 7am-5pm; Sat 7am-3pm; Sun 7am-1pm.
