A ‘vulnerable’ man who ran up a drugs debt was brutally attacked by criminals who ordered him to store cash, cannabis and a shotgun in his home.

Elliott Wood, 22, suffered ‘grave and life-changing injuries’ at the hands of vicious criminals, who deliberately drove at him with a car, attacked him with weapons and broke into his house.

Wood’s mother was also injured.

He was spared jail after a judge described the case as ‘wholly exceptional’.

Manchester Crown Court heard that Wood had built up a ‘significant’ cannabis debt, and was ordered to store illicit items in his property.

Police went to Wood’s home in Newton Heath in May last year and found a shotgun with 25 live cartridges in a cupboard under the stairs.
