Sara Hiatt of High Point Pharms on Main Street talks about her CBD and hemp products that are produced on her family farm in Reno County.

After opening a store on Main Street in Hutchinson a couple of years ago, Nickerson CBD farmers and growers Nate, Lauren, Sara and Bob Hiatt, decided to move their budding store, High Point Pharms, across and down the street to 328 N. Main Street.

“We get more business here,” Sara Hiatt said. “I don’t know why, but it’s a better corner.”

Because the family runs the farm where the hemp is grown, they feel they can control their product − and everything that goes into making it. The hemp they and other farmers in Kansas grow has no more than 0.3% of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is the substance that creates the ‘high.’ The High Point Pharm brand is Kansas-grown, processed and manufactured.

High Point Pharms at 328 Main St. in Hutchinson.

The store sells gummies, topicals, tinctures, salves, body butter and bath bombs made from their CBD harvest. They also sell items for pets.

“We know it, cause we grow it,” Sara Hiatt said.

The family farm is in western Reno County on High Point Road.

Bob, Sara, and their oldest son Nate Hiatt started High Point Family Farms in 2018 and have been growing industrial hemp since its legalization in Kansas through the research program in 2019. The family’s hemp farm is on a small scale, similar to gardening.
