Tax and custom inspectors found a lot more than they bargained for when they raided a storage container expecting to find a stash of contraband cigarettes.

The HMRC team and their sniffer dogs instead found almost £60,000 worth of cocaine and cannabis in Andrew Jones lock-up in Flintshire, when they carried out the search in 2017.

Jones, 46, of Primrose Way in Wrexham was found guilty of possession with intent to supply cocaine and possession with intent to supply cannabis at a trial in October.

Today the charity worker was jailed for seven and a half years at Mold Crown Court.

The court heard how inspectors found 370kg of the class A drug cocaine with a street value of between £22,000 and £37,000 and 2.2kg of class B drug cannabis with a street value of around £22,000.

Drug paraphernalia was also seized from the storage unit.
