A man who was caught tending to a £250,000 cannabis farm in Sheffield has been jailed.

Florin Trifan was arrested after police executed a drugs warrant at a property on Minto Road, Hillsborough on April 10 this year.

The 30-year-old defendant, of no fixed address, was jailed at Sheffield Crown Court on May 12 after pleading guilty to production of a class B drug.

PC Laura Thompson, investigating, said: “Cultivating cannabis on this scale funds the activities of organised criminals.

“We seized these plants, plus between eight and 10kg of packaged cannabis which was ready to sell. These profits would have likely gone on to fund violence, exploitation and have a knock on effect of causing fear in our communities.
