Police officers from one of Coventry’s neighbourhood teams have raided a cannabis factory in the city.

The raid on the residential property was carried out by the Stoke & Wyken neighbourhood team.

They seized more than 250 plants in the operation.

The property that was raided was in Shakespeare Street. One man was arrested and has been charged with drug cultivation. He appeared before magistrates on Tuesday November 22.

New of the raid was released on the evening of Monday, November 22, via Twitter with the neighbourhood team saying it had happened that morning.

They also released pictures of the plants seized during the raid, as well as an image of the front entrance, which appeared to have been broken down in order to gain access to the property.

In a tweet Stoke & Wyken Police said: “Yet ANOTHER drugs warrant executed this morning by @StokeWykenWMP.

“Another cannabis cultivation taken down.

“One in custody with over 250 plants seized and electricity made safe.

“Thank you to the residents, If you suspect it report it. #notonourpatch.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “Officers executed a drugs warrant at an address on Shakespeare Street in Coventry on Monday (22 November).

“Approximately 100 plants were recovered.

“Elton Afmataj aged 23 of Shakespeare Street Coventry was arrested and charged with drug cultivation. He appeared at Coventry Magistrates Court on November 22.”
