In case you missed it, these are some of the stories that made headlines on Saturday.

An alleged gang leader was among two people shot and killed in Carenage on Friday night. They were identified as 30-year-old Kafele Pierre and 29-year-old Levi Williams, both from Barataria. According to reports, a group of friends were liming at Lanse Mitan Road, Carenage, when a gunman approached and opened fire. Read the full story here.

The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) has advised of scheduled outages in parts of Trinidad and Tobago. T&TEC said this is due to planned maintenance work. Affected areas include: Fyzabad, San Francique, Siparia, Sangre Grande, Belmont, Penal, San Juan, Caroni, Valencia, Princes Town, La Romaine, Libertville, St Croix and Maracas/St Joseph. The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is advising that customers served by the Tompire Water Treatment Plant, who are currently experiencing a disruption in their water supply, that this is due to prolonged turbid river conditions. In a statement on Saturday, WASA said high turbidity levels have resulted in clogged screens which have rendered the treatment plant inoperable. The Authority added it is aware of the hardship caused by this disruption and is currently activating a contingency plan to provide a supply in the shortest possible time. Read the details here.
