When deciding on a weekend away, Victorians often love nothing more than booking a luxurious winery stay with a top-notch restaurant on site.
But for just a night or two away, the distance it takes to drive to the state’s main hotspots (on either the Mornington Peninsula or in the Yarra Valley) can be a turn off.
However, just 35 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD there is a stunning winery called Marnong Estate in Mickleham that could have everything you could need for a local holiday — and more.

Arguably the most surprising feature when first visiting Marnong is its sheer size and how despite it being a short drive from the city, it feels like visiting a beautiful village in the country.
Set on 1200 acres, the estate includes three restaurants, 40 luxury cabins and a cellar door with an attached store, as well as a petting zoo, 24-hour gym and five event spaces.
There is also a stunning Victorian bluestone homestead dating to the 1850s but now mainly used by wedding parties to prepare for the big day.
And speaking of weddings at Marnong, the five event spaces all host weddings and include a secret garden that stands 150, a lookout that seats 50 or a rustic wool shed that seats 120.
