Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge councils to vote on cannabis stores this weekPosted by On



Retail cannabis stores are on the agenda of five city and township councils this week in Waterloo Region.

In meetings scheduled Monday and Tuesday, councils will vote on whether to opt in or out of having physical marijuana stores set up in their community.

On Monday, Wilmot, Kitchener and Waterloo will vote on the issue. While Tuesday, Cambridge and Woolwich councils will vote.

North Dumfries will meet Monday, Jan. 21. That’s the day before the deadline for all municipalities in Ontario to let the province know their plans. 

Municipalities across the region have been consulting regional council as well as the Waterloo Regional Police Service to look at a common strategy for selling cannabis at the retail level.
