Legalizing marijuana is a horrible idea. The single most complicated mechanism in the universe is the human brain. Indeed, the intricate complexities of this marvel stand as credible evidence for a “higher power” behind its existence.

Yet the extreme complexity of the human brain is what makes it particularly sensitive and vulnerable to toxins. The human brain malfunctions under the slightest influence of various drugs and among these, the “sweet poison” of marijuana is one of the most dangerous because its impact on individual users affects others in a far bigger way than “secondhand” tobacco smoke puts nonsmokers at risk.

Marijuana users experience delusional states (such as euphoria, paranoia, etc.) similar to that found in mental patients. Marijuana intoxication displaces logic with magical-fantasy thinking. Spirituality and judgement become so warped that “good” and “evil” can become undifferentiated. The results of these effects impact society in a very negative way.

Crime, family dysfunction, poverty, squalor and homelessness characterize societies where marijuana use is widespread. Compare Jamaica to Costa Rica or Nepal to Singapore to gauge the social decay caused by social acceptance of marijuana use.
