Local Roots is seeking to join Garden Remedies and Vedi Naturals as marijuana dispenaries in Marlborough.
MARLBOROUGH — Local Roots New England Inc. is one step closer to opening an adult-use marijuana shop at a Rte. 20 spot that company officials describe as a perfect location for the business.
Urban Affairs Committee members on Thursday signed off on a special permit for Local Roots to open a dispensary at 910 Boston Post Road East (Rte. 20). The full City Council is expected to vote on the special permit in coming weeks.
Local Roots officials have characterized the location as ideal for the dispensary due to its ample parking, lack of residential neighbors and a traffic signal in front of the proposed shop.
“The biggest thing you have going is the traffic light on Rte. 20,” said City Councilor Donald Landers.
