A man accused of murdering Accrington man Mark Fisher was ‘goaded’ in the run up to the killing, a court heard.

Joseph Hindle, 45, is standing trial at Preston Crown Court accused of the murder or manslaughter of Mr Fisher at his home on January 19 2020.

Mr Fisher died from multiple stab wounds to his face, chest and arms, following the incident.

Some of the knife wounds were so severe they penetrated Mr Fisher’s heart, lung and liver. He also had defensive wounds to his hand, the court heard.

Hindle, of Woodside Road, Huncoat, admits going to the house in Edleston Street, Accrington, to carry out a robbery at around lunchtime on January 19.

But he denies intending to kill or cause serious injury to Mr Fisher.

Philip Evans QC, prosecuting, said: “Mark Fisher was stabbed to death at the back kitchen door of the address he was living at.  

“This was in the course of what the Crown say was not simply a robbery intended to get cannabis from him but was also a plan to attack him generally because of wrongs he was said to have done to an ex partner and other misdeeds alleged against him.  

“Hindle was not alone in planning that robbery although it was he alone who carried out that violence.”
