A man has been charged after police swooped on three properties and seized £64,400 worth of cannabis.

Officers raided three addresses in Airdrie, Cumbernauld and Glasgow as part of an intelligence-led operation on Thursday.

A five-figure sum of money was also recovered during the operation.

A 37-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with the recovery. He has been released on undertaking to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court at a later date.

Officers have requested that members of the public contact them to report drug misuse in the community.

Detective Sergeant Gary Crossan, of Lanarkshire CID, said: “Targeting drugs misuse in our local communities remains a priority and we are committed to seizing harmful substances before they reach the hands of the most vulnerable people.

“We will always act on information that we receive from the public on this issue and I would like to thank them for their co-operation.

“I would urge anyone with concerns or information relating to drugs misuse to contact their local police station by phoning 101.

“Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
