A man was caught growing 48 cannabis plants in his house – he said he thought it would be ‘easy money’ following his financial problems.
Police received a tip off about Thiet Lee’s address in Salford from a utility company in February 2019.
After they had entered his house they came across a cannabis farm in one of the bedrooms, Manchester Crown Court heard.

In total 48 plants were found, which was said to give a maximum yield of 3.6 kilograms and be worth up to £36,000.
Also discovered was a ‘sophisticated’ set up where Lee, now of Cheetham Hill, had bypassed the electricity to grow the drugs.
It was said Lee admitted to growing the plants ‘without prevarication’.
He pleaded guilty to producing a controlled drug of class B but was handed a suspended sentence.
Outlining the facts of the case, prosecutor William Donnelly said that on February 19 2019 the police visited a house on Gloucester Street having been advised by a utility company who’d gone round to carry out checks on the property.
“They were in the presence of what appeared to be a cannabis farm in one of the bedrooms,” he said.
“The defendant was not present at the time.
“Correspondence and enquiries revealed he was the tenant and he was arrested.”
As well as the plants, officers discovered lighting and ventilation which the prosecutor suggested was some ‘sophisticated…
