Voters in Michigan have passed an initiative to legalize recreational marijuana.
Proposition 1 will allow people 21 and older to purchase, possess and use marijuana and edibles. Under the proposal, adults can grow up to 12 marijuana plants for personal use.
It will also put a 10 percent tax on marijuana sales, plus the existing six percent sales tax.
The revenue will be used first to implement and enforce the measure. Then, a portion goes to FDA-approved marijuana clinical trials. And the remainder will be split between schools, roads, and cities and counties with marijuana businesses.
Municipalities are able to decide whether they want those businesses in their jurisdictions — but they can’t ban them…
