Mirvac executive Brett Henson denies stealing taxi from Sydney CBD streetPosted by On

A property executive from Sydney’s eastern suburbs has pleaded not guilty to stealing a taxi from a CBD street and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Brett Henson, 42, faced Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday, when his lawyer Paul McGirr entered pleas of not guilty.

Henson works as senior capital transactions manager at Australian property giant Mirvac.

McGirr sought orders for the defence to be served the brief of evidence and Deputy Registrar Nicole Hoffman adjourned the matter to February.

Police allege Henson damaged a silver taxi parked on Hunter Street in the CBD about 8.50pm on November 4 and threatened the 52-year-old male driver.

He is then accused of stealing the taxi and fleeing.

The vehicle was recovered five kilometres away in Woollahra with “significant damage”, NSW Police said last month.

Henson, from Bronte, attended Waverley police station on November 10 after a social media appeal for information, which included images taken from the taxi’s internal camera.
