Ohio has sailed into very dangerous waters. The problem is no longer just that state lawmakers disregard the will of the people. Far too many state legislators now exhibit disdain for the people and are willing to figuratively flip voters the bird.
This was on display during the failed August special election con to make it harder to amend the state constitution and again during the buildup to and aftermath of the November election that saw abortion rights constitutional amendment and adult-use marijuana, an initiated statute, both approved overwhelmingly.
This includes misinformation and misdirection about both the special election and the abortion rights issue.
Right after the election, a small band of GOP lawmakers announced plans to seize the judicial branch’s power to make decisions about abortion.
