Over $40 million were generated from all marijuana sales here in New Mexico in January. “You know I think just last January, including medical, there was $43 million in total sales,” said Scott Prisco, CEO of Priscotty, a marijuana delivery service. He believes it’s been more than beneficial for the economy, especially at the state level. It’s a trend the state has been seeing since April, and local dispensaries are realizing the impact marijuana is having on New Mexico. “Our market has been incredibly volatile ever since April 1 when the program initiated recreational cannabis sales,” said David White, president of Organtica in Albuquerque. He said it’s a great time to be a New Mexican because of it. Since last April, over $230 million dollars in marijuana sales has been recorded. Experts believe this business is more booming than people realize. “It’s happening in a more legal way so the state is benefiting from that consumption no,” Prisco said. With so many dispensaries to choose from, White says he wants to make sure the industry does not get taken advantage of.”We’re in a very competitive market now where before there were only, you know, 35 licensed producers,” White said.
