P2.2 M worth of marijuana plants burned in Benguet

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet  – Marijuana plants worth more than P2.2 million were discovered, uprooted, and burned by the anti-illegal drugs unit of the Benguet Provincial Police Office in the hinterlands of Bakun, Benguet.

Police Colonel Elmer Ragay, provincial director, said a total of 11,000 fully grown marijuana plants were discovered in three plantation sites in the mountainous part of Kibungan, Benguet on November 24, with a total land area of 2,000 square meters and worth more than P2.2 million.

Ragay said combined operatives of Kibungan Municipal Police Station, Intelligence Unit and Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) of Benguet Provincial Police Office (BPPO) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) uprooted some 5,000 marijuana plants worth P1 million which were cultivated in a 500 square meters communal land at Sitio Basi, Barangay Tacadang.
