MANILA, Philippines — Marijuana plants with an estimated market value of P2 million were destroyed in separate anti-narcotics operations in Davao del Sur, Sarangani and South Cotabato over the weekend.
Reports said no one was arrested in the operations that were conducted by agents of the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) on Saturday morning.
Police said the team uprooted 11,500 fully grown marijuana plants that were planted in two areas covering 5,620 square meters.
“With this accomplishment, vulnerable sectors from Mindanao have been spared from possible exposure to illegal substances. Herbicides were sprayed in the areas to prevent fallen marijuana seeds from growing again,” the PNP-DEG said.
