City marijuana downtown ban vote Monday

COLDWATER — There has been intense lobbying toward Coldwater City Council with a final vote set Monday on retail marijuana licensing limits.
On Sept. 14, the council made it clear in a 7-2 vote it is ready to open both downtown and the I-69 business districts for unlimited retail recreational marijuana sales. Applications for special-use permits are set to open October 15.
The council selected the option to the law that will eliminate separation distances in both the C-2 downtown and C-4 interstate business districts. The buffer from schools and residential zoning still remains at 1,000 feet between licensees.
Downtown Development Authority recommended downtown licences in a 4-2 vote.
