Police have shared images of an enormous cannabis farm they found at a ‘business premises’.

Officers said they executed a drugs warrant at the address on Cheetham Street in Rochdale town centre.

Inside they found a ‘sophisticated’ cannabis growing operation with 170 plants at various stages of maturity.

Police said the drugs had an estimated street value of £136,000.

GMP Rochdale did not state whether any arrests have been made but said an investigation is ongoing.

Police have had several successes targeting drug supply in Rochdale this year.

The M.E.N reported last week how a woman who laundered money and allowed her home to be used to store cannabis was found to have a number of 24 carat gold bars worth thousands of pounds.

Isma Farid, 31, committed the crimes on behalf of an organised criminal gang in Rochdale which dealt cocaine, heroin and cannabis.

Farid, of Clifford Street, received an 18 month jail sentence suspended for two years, and was ordered to do 200 hours unpaid work and observe a curfew for three months.

The case was part of Operation Gallant, an investigation being led by Rochdale’s Organised Crime Team, supported by the Sunrise Team and Programme Challenger, which is Greater Manchester’s partnership approach to tackling…
