THE Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday said that shabu and marijuana worth P16 million were seized in separate anti-illegal drugs operations conducted in Kalinga, Davao City and Bulacan.
PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said the largest haul was recorded in Tabuk City, Kalinga on Friday when 31-year-old Jerry Salang-oy Alunday was intercepted at a police checkpoint by personnel from Tabuk City Police Station and regional drug enforcement units while attempting to transport a huge stash of marijuana worth P15.6-million on a white commuter van.
Azurin said the contraband was packed into 126 bricks and four tubular packaging weighing 130,000 grams.
“The suspect may have been involved in large-scale trafficking of marijuana as evidenced by the huge quantity confiscated from him. The vigilance of our personnel was instrumental in suppressing the possible consumption of illegal drugs that could possibly happen in case these Marijuana were successfully delivered,” Azurin said.
Authorities also arrested a high-value individual for illegal drugs, along with other drug suspects.
