Police investigating Wellington Street death of woman in Perth CBD charge Newman manPosted by On

A 27-year-old man has been charged over the death of a woman in Perth’s CBD early Thursday morning.

WA Police said the 24-year-old woman was found unresponsive in a car park on Wellington Street just before 3am.

They allege she was earlier assaulted by the man in Yagan Square, about 500 metres away from where she was found.

Paramedics provided first aid to the woman but she could not be revived.

WA Police Detective Senior Sergeant Keith Neubronner said on Thursday the pair had a “domestic relationship” and were both from regional WA.

The man was arrested in the CBD a short time after the woman’s death, and has now been charged with committing an unlawful act or omission with intent to harm.

The Newman man is set to front the Perth Magistrates Court later today.
