A ‘sophisticated’ cannabis farm has been uncovered in Skelmersdale after a police raid.

Officers from the local Neighbourhood Task Force and Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a warrant at an address on High Street.

A total of 120 cannabis plants were found inside the building along with lights and growing equipment.

Skelmersdale Police said the warrant was the first to be executed as part of Operation Hera, a new initiative targeting organised criminals in the area.

A force spokesperson said: “Your local Neighbourhood Task Force and Neighbourhood Policing Team have executed a warrant under the misuse of drugs act at an address on High Street at Skelmersdale.

“Within the address officers have seized 120 cannabis plants which were being cultivated in a sophisticated set up.

“The warrant is the first to be executed under Operation Hera , which is an operation targeting organised criminality based on community intelligence.
