BERRIEN COUNTY, MI — Police made three arrests and seized more than 125 pounds of black-market marijuana in three separate investigations in Berrien County recently

Berrien County Sheriff deputies responded to an assault with a deadly weapon complaint on County Line Rd in Watervliet Township on Nov. 27 after a 47-year-old Kentucky man allegedly threatened another man with a firearm, according to a press release.

Police discovered a large amount of marijuana, which led them to call MSP Southwest Enforcement (SWET) to assist.

Investigators found 125 pounds of black-market marijuana, a small amount of cocaine, two pistols, two rifles and two shotguns all in possession of the Kentucky man, according to a release from the Michigan State Police.

The 47-year-old was arrested and lodged in the Berrien County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon. Additional charges are being sought by the Berrien County prosecutor’s office in relation to the marijuana, firearms and cocaine.

Then on Nov. 29, SWET detectives were called after troopers stopped a 29-year-old Grand Rapids man who was identified as selling crystal methamphetamine from his vehicle.

The man was arrested at the River Terrace Apartment complex at 200 River Terrace Drive in Benton Harbor. with 56 grams of crystal methamphetamine in his pocket.

He was also taken to the Berrien County Jail for possession with intent to deliver crystal methamphetamine, second offense, and maintaining a drug vehicle.
