Gardaí have seized more than €31,000 worth of suspected cannabis plants and cannabis herb following the search of a house in Knockcroghery  on Saturday, January 16th.

Gardaí attached to the Roscommon/Longford Divisional Drugs unit carried out a search of a house in Knockcroghery shortly before 5 p.m. on Saturday. During the course of the search, a suspected cannabis grow house was located.    A quantity of cannabis plants valued at approximately €27,700 and a quantity of cannabis herb (pending analysis) valued at €3,400 were seized. A man in his mid-20s was arrested at the scene and brought to Castlerea Garda station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

He has since been released without charge and a file is to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
