PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)-There was a lot of talk about marijuana in Pierre this week. The challenge to Amendment “A”, legalizing recreational marijuana was upheld by a circuit judge and legislation was introduced delaying the implementation of medicinal marijuana under “IM26.”

Governor Kristi Noem says there are lots of details to work through.


Noem says there are several steps in the bill.

Noem also said they will continue the opposition to Amendment
“A”, which was struck down by a circuit judge this week.

Senate Minority Leader Troy Heinert of Mission wasn’t surprised by the court action on Amendment “A”.

Heinert says he would support legislation moving toward recreational uses of marijuana.

Heinert was not pleased with the delay legislation on “IM26”.

Governor Kristi Noem said she would veto any bill that attempts to legalize recreational uses of marijuana.
