Only one cannabis store is currently operating in Brampton, but several more could be coming to town soon.
According to the Ontario Alcohol and Gaming Commission’s (AGCO) website, there are currently seven proposed stores going through the application process including:
— Dab Cannabis (227 Vodden St.)
— THC Centre Cannabis Inc. (144 Kennedy Rd. South)
— 360 Cannabis (2933 Queen St. East)
— Corner Cannabis (131 Kennedy Rd. North)
— Hobo Cannabis Brampton (14 Lisa St.)
— The Cannabis Guys (65 Braydon Blvd.)
— HIBUZZ (40 Rivermont Rd.)
Currently, Ganjika House located at 186 Main St. — which was among the first legal recreational dispensaries to open in the province — is the only legal cannabis shop operating in Canada’s ninth-largest city.
Earlier this year, the Ontario government cancelled its lottery system and limits on new store applications, opening the process up to anyone looking to open a store in communities which have opted to allow them.
It is unknown if all of the new proposed stores will be approved, as all of the active applications are currently in the “in progress” stage of the process. Residents can make submissions and offer input or objections to the store locations during the public notice period for each by visiting www.agco.ca.
